TO: ALL VALUED CUSTOMERS
Please kindly note that the new SOLAS requirement on the Verified Gross Mass (VGM) of a
container will be effective on 01st July, 2016. Which requires the shipper named on ocean
carrier’s bill of lading has to verify and provide a Verified Gross Mass (VGM) for packed container
to the ocean carrier and port terminal representative before it being loaded onto a vessel, as a
way to protect safety of life at sea.
For Data elements required for VGM submission include:
1. Booking Number / Shipping Order
2. Container number / Size
3. VGM weight (KGs)
4. Booker & Shipper name / Contact information
5. Name of Authorized Person (Signatory) / E Signature
VGM Submission Cut-off
In order not to affect vessel operation, shipper has submit VGM CKLine HK by mail 24
hours in advance before the CY closing time of our local Booking acknowledgement.
Submit VGM within office hours Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00pm, (time constraint, delay,
complicated - not accepted)
Shipper has to declare VGM starting from 25 th June 2016 and onward Transshipment cargoes
for vessels departure on 01st July 2016 must have VGM declared
Container tare weight
All the container tare weight required for Method 2 can be found on the CSC plate of container
door-side.
